Anna Nordström, student at the School of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, is this year’s winner of the Almedahls Award.
Our focus this year was the carpet and we were looking for thoughts and ideas about an innovative carpet for the public places of today. What does the carpet look like today? Create what we will be walking on in public places
in the future?
Anna Nordström’s contribution shows a play with optical effects, where volume is created on a flat surface. A carpet with a sketch feeling that adds energy and playfulness in public places like open landscaped offices. By
offering a palette of modules, she stresses that each hand-tufted carpet is unique and can be tailored specifically to the room. The carpet is made of wool, which is a fireproof, hardwearing, and environment-friendly material.
The jury this year comprised Stefan Borselius, Furniture Designer, Anna Kraitz, Furniture Designer, and Ann Larsson Kjelin, Lisa Vilhelmson, and Jenny Stefansdotter Stentoft from the Design Studio of Almedahls AB.
