Saving energy is a way of protecting the environment. As a large part of the energy leakage in a building passes through the windows it is a good idea to use daylight control solutions to reduce the energy costs. The best effect is achieved by using a black-out roller blind mounted with side channels. In this way you will get an insulating air gap between the window and the blind, reducing noticeable the loss of energy. In summer you can also reduce the need for cooling rooms, as interior sun protection throws back part of the solar heat.
The amount of the energy saving depends on the combination of the window construction and the daylight control solution. In the trade a g-value is used, which is equal to the transmission of solar energy, i e the amount of solar heat passing through fabrics and windows. A low g-value is desirable if you want to reduce the cooling demand, and the opposite applies to warming.
