Jenny Stefansdotter Stentoft was born in 1979, and lives in Göteborg. She was trained as a textile designer at Denmark’s Design School and the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås.
“My focus is working with textiles in rooms. The point is to add the qualities of the textiles to the room, such as patterns, screening, sound damping, comfort, warmth, and colours. Functions that are important and interesting to consider when planning architecture”.
For Almedahls Jenny has designed the patterns “Spegling” and “Foliage”, which was developed from the competition entry to the Almedahls Award in 2006. Her samples consisted of a number of hand-made printing experiments, which were transformed to industrial techniques. The inspiration was taken from photographs taken in Copenhagen’s botanical garden. The textiles are designed to function as a tree crown, where the light is filtered through the shadow-play of the leaves, reduced to a soft light.
