Kazuyo Nomura

Kazuyo Nomura was born in 1955 in Japan. She came to Sweden in the eighties and nowadays lives and works in Göteborg. She was trained in textile design (BFA) at the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås and in textile art (MA) at the HDK- School of Design and Crafts in Göteborg. Kazuyo works with textile design as well as with textile art and was bestowed the greatest textile award of the Nordic countries, “The Nordic Award in Textiles” in 2006, for her creativity, craftsmanship, and ability to stretch limits.

For Almedahls Kazuyo has designed the textiles “Amanda”, “Josefina”, and “Maya”. She has also designed the carpet “Mondo”, which is linked to the curtains in colour and pattern.

«”Amanda” is a pattern, where the Japanese interacts with the Swedish/Nordic. The pattern is inspired by an old Japanese pattern “Shippo”, which means seven jewels. I wanted to make an expressive modern pattern that lights up the room.»
