Pia Holm

Finnish-Swedish designer Pia Holm was born in 1971 on the west coast of Finland and has for many years made her home on Kemiƶnsaari island in the Turku archipelago. She acquired her education at Aalto University in Helsinki, Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and HDK in Gothenburg. The plant kingdom of the nature surrounding her currently serves as a major source of inspiration.

Pia is working as a designer, illustrator and artist, using a wide range of techniques in her artistic work. She is happy to create patterns in large format, where both technology and craftsmanship can be seen in the interactions between line and surface.

For Almedahls, Pia developed the pattern "Lune," an interpretation of natural organic forms verging on the abstract. The pattern consists of familiar natural elements, reproduced in a large format print. A thrilling sensation of space is suggested by the shapes floating in gravity-defying weightlessness.
