Stefan Borselius, who was born in Malmö in 1974, lives and works in Stockholm. He has a certificate of apprenticeship in cabinet-making at the Steneby School and was educated at Carl Malmsten’s design training and at the School of Arts, Craft and Design, Stockholm, furniture and interior architecture.
With innovative solutions concerning the design and the function of furniture Stefan Borselius has been awarded Swedish as well as international prizes. The prize of the Swedish architects “Guldstolen” (the Golden Chair) and “Red Dot, Best of the Best” in Germany. Two of his products are represented at the Stockholm National Museum.
For Almedahls Stefan has designed the patterns ”Macro” and ”My-Opi”, where he wants to stretch the limits, and add the organic into the strict public places. By means of screen patterns and burn-out techniques he creates space, deep and volume on a flat material.
With his Scandinavian back-ground he was inspired by beautiful patterns from the Mid-East and designed the series ”Myth” and ”Mythos”. A structured chaos of forms, lines, directions and colour combinations, which make a whole. The carpets in the series start from the same pattern, where each form is salient. Stefan Borselius wants to make to most of the handicraft of the carpets and create a freedom of choice for the architect when it comes to the size of the carpet and the colour scheme.
