What is innovation? Can you take care of an inheritance in an innovative way? What is new under the sun? Are we not inventing our age by looking back at our history? The pattern “Person’s Kryddskåp” (Person’s Spice-Rack) was designed by the Textile Professor Astrid Sampe for Almedahls AB in the 1950’s. The pattern was originally printed on tea-towels and was inspired by the ceramic designer Signe Person-Melin’s spice-jars. Today you will find this pattern in the homes of many young, modern people living in a big city as well as in grand-mother’s cupboard with carefully ironed linen. Bringing retro patterns back to life in a new way may be an innovation.
